South Gap depth of Travel | Grand Canyon National Park RV camping early experience [Dean Tourism History]
In the last article we'll West Canyon South Rim containing made a very complete comparison (Click here to see the complete details). Because the West Gorge is closer to Las Vegas and there are additional consumption items for tourists to buy, the tour groups generally focus on pushing the West Gorge, which is good for both.
The landscape of the Southern Gorge is indeed richer, although it is far away, but it is actually very worthwhile. If the group that participated in the day is relatively busy, there are still some. (9 hour to and from the park, 4-5 hours in the park)Click here to go to reservations). For self-driving, it is recommended to stay in Nanxia for two days and one night. You can stay in a wooden house or tent. (or three days and two nights South Gorge + Antelope Valley + Horseshoe Bay)
RV Introduction
There are many types of RVs, but today I will briefly introduce a few small ones that are easy to rent on the market. The general small car (22-26ft) belongs to the scene of Studio. There is a double bed at the back. On the front of the driver's seat, there is also a bed that can sleep two people. Plus, when the table is closed, you can sleep a child and sleep a total of five people. The medium-sized RV (26-32ft) is divided into a master bedroom at the end, a dining table and a sofa in the middle, and two people can sleep in front of the driver's seat. The sofa and dining table can sleep one child each, for a total of six people. Some types of motor homes can even sleep to 8-10 people.
And this time we travel a total of five people, we chose 31ft midsize car (More car information and photos click here). If it is four to five people to calculate the cost of sharing the car (including accommodation) is actually not very expensive.
RV camping is not only sleep well, the car is everything devices are complete. (Toilet / bath / kitchen)
Before we set off, we prepared our own food room in the refrigerator. After arriving at the canyon camp at noon on the first day, we heated the food to eat. At dinner, the BBQ ingredients are ready to be grilled at the campsite. Although I have never driven a RV, the roads in the United States are quite spacious, and there are not many cars on the road, so it is relatively difficult to open.
拉斯维加斯 RV rental after studies comparing our lists the following companies for your reference:
(We choose this place is Apollo)
RV Company | Pros | Cons |
Rvezy |
Lots of new cars (Almost all new vehicles within two years) |
When the season is very expensive (American camping season runs from March to October between) |
El Monte | More affordable price | Older vehicles, mostly for the car over 5 years |
Cruise America | Affordable, nationwide chain of car lot | The car interior room than the spring |
RV travel in addition to the driver, but also to understand some of the basic features of the car (car rental, but these they will teach it again).Such as how to turn on the generator after driving in the car can make use of the power and TV, arrived at the camp turned on the electricity, water and cleaning the car excreta.
Note: RV rentals are similar to hotel accommodations. They are rented at noon or in the afternoon. It is more inconvenient to do this the next morning. You will need to rent one day in advance, or rent a car one day later. Moreover, the cost of renting a RV generally does not include the mileage of the opening, so it is necessary to calculate the amount of the need before departure, according to different companies have different programs. In addition, the insurance and the cost of camping props for rent, as well as the oil money on the way are not included, so pay special attention when calculating the expenses.
Itinerary
On the first day we set off at 6 am to go to the South Gorge (the total distance is about 275 miles)
The general car can be reached in about 4 and half an hour. It is estimated to be estimated to be five hours because the car is slower. It will pass through the Hoover Dam on the way, so you can also take a photo (for an extra hour)
Noon to the South Gap park after you've Check-in camp. (This time we chose the Trailer Village within the park, in the park a lot easier)
Since we are early 2 go, so not yet melted snow on the ground, but the park is still quite beautiful.
It is very convenient to have a shuttle bus to run various attractions in the park (one shift per 15 minute). Mainly divided into blue line, yellow line, and red line (not opened in winter). The Blue Line can reach most of the park's attractions, while the Yellow Line is back and forth between several attractions near the Visitor Center. The red line is the dividing line of a mountain road in the westernmost part. After lunch at the camp, we went to the visitor center, then walked from Mather Point along the edge of the canyon to Yavapai Point, taking photos and enjoying the scenery.
There are many attractions in the South Gorge, and you can even ride to the bottom of the valley in the village (it takes a whole day). Since there was no red line in winter, we drove the RV directly to the west side to watch the sunset in the evening. (Hopi Point)
Return to the campsite after sunset and watch the stars in the park at night. The next morning, the Desert View Point on the easternmost map of the South Gorge map will need to be opened about 40. There are other attractions that can pass the stop to take pictures. (If you live in the park, you can even get up early to see the sunrise)
If it is a two-day and one-night trip, you can go back to the watchtower and return to Las Vegas in the evening! But if it is enough time, it is recommended to arrange three days and two nights, the watchtower on the east side of the South Gorge. After the end, all the way to Horseshoe Bay, spend more than one day to go to the Antelope Valley and even to Lake Powell. Because only going to the South Gorge is the original way back, and more to go to the Antelope Valley Horseshoe Bay is more than a distance but round a circle back to Las Vegas.
Overnight South Gap backtrack (about opening hours 9, 550 miles)
3D2N more to Horseshoe Bay, Antelope Valley, is only three hours to open the car and 150 mile and backhaul is to take a different path.
